Johnnie Fox Pub – experience ALL under one roof

Hi guys!! How are you all doing?? IRELAND is being known for its #love for pub culture!! You probably know that already but it is very famously told that the older the pub..the better it is!! This place surely follows it seriously. Oh and people here in Ireland or tourists visiting, add pub hopping as a MUST do activity to soak in traditional Irish culture whilst sipping a pint of beer or just simply relaxing.

By the way! Pubs play an important role in the Irish society, to narrate experiences, to tap your feet to some traditional music or simply spend some valuable time with your significant other.

My personal experience of classical pubs of Ireland is my visit to Johnnie Fox Pub here in Dublin. After quite a long eye gazing and smile exchanges…, Finally!!! this cute guy had asked me out to this age-old pub of Ireland in Dublin. I’m living here for 12 years now I’ve never heard of Johnnie Fox Pub! Haha! I also didn’t know we were headed to the HIGHEST PUB IN IRELAND!! The shortlisted location is what attracted me in the first place to say YES!!! After all who would deny great food and live entertainment with your crush??? Haha! Johnnie Fox Pub is one such pub in Dublin which excel in live traditional music and dance as a form of entertainment.

Yes!! It was finally, “THE DAY”, a beautiful summer evening and a Saturday night are what we had decided as he had made dinner reservations. Excitedly(running late) I boarded the taxi towards the Gresham Hotel in O’Connell Street, from where we were supposed to meet up to board the shuttle towards the pub. Not only does this table require table reservations but also the shuttle service requires prior booking.

The tiresome day didn’t turn down my effort to dress up alongside keeping it casual. I was already behind schedule, due to some last-minute task wrapping at whatever I was doing.. Feeling bad, I asked him to tell the driver to hold up for a few minutes. Relieved he did so!!!! OMG. Huffing, and puffing finally reached and crossed the road where the shuttle was waiting. The 45 minutes ride to the destination went by in
the blink of an eye with some chit chatting to know him better.

It was my first visit to Johnny Fox Pub, neither had I researched anything about this destination nor had I asked him, though he was tight-lipped about it, leaving it all to surprises. ILOVE SURPRISES! and It was worth the wait!!! Haha!

From the outside, it looked like the age-old barn giving a feeling
of the countryside. It was usual Friday evenings at this pub, flooded with people and tourists, some waiting for a seat and some sitting on the tables lying outside. OHH and It is highly recommended to make prior reservations to avoid disappointment.

Since he had reservations we headed inside to this cozy little place. The place left me awestruck from the inside, people everywhere sipping their drinks and chatting away to glory while some bunch of people sat beside the open fire storytelling.

After getting ourselves comfortably seated, began one of the most memorable evenings. The best way to get a feel of the top-notch Irish music and dance performances, Hooley night at Johnnie Fox Pub is the key to it.

“He surely knows how to surprise a girl!” was what I was thinking while he was busy flipping the menu. Haha! Feeling overwhelmed was looking ahead for the eventful evening.

Even though near the mountains, this place is famous for sumptuous seafood delicacies. On special recommendation decided to give chowder soup then lamb “Sharnk” as a main course a try. It was so soft and soooo delicious!!! Stuffed I was!

After heartfelt meal decided to share the famous whiskey cake. Actually wait.. we both had whiskey cakes and I ended up finishing his 😮 Dessert sharing surely brought us closer to know each other better. HAHA! Great taste and great company! What an evening it was!!

Towards the end of the meal, it was time for some feet tapping to traditional dance and music!! The first part of the night began with one hour of the band playing then the stage rises from the ground and dance performance commences.

Surprises did not end for me, I also got picked by one of the Irish dancers to tap some feet on stage unexpectedly!!!! Haha! It was a really cool and amazing experience. Look at my award that’s nicely framed!! This was the cherry on the top for an eventful evening at Johnnie Fox Pub which will remain as memories to be
cherished forever. Also, we were sitting on the long table with strangers, but ended up having them as new friends. They were super friendly and entertaining too! Haha!

Even though usually considered as a tourist trap, I yet felt welcomed with great dining to entertainment experience, making the visit to Johnnie Fox Pub worthwhile.

What are you waiting for??! Head to Johnnie Fox Pub today, for some traditional Irish pub experience!! You surely will love it like I did 😉

Xo, Shamira.
